More than 600 guests attended the York and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce annual dinner at the National Railway Museum in York. Guest speaker Allan Leighton, the former Asda and Royal Mail chief, used his speech to urge Yorkshire companies to use the tough economic times as an opportunity to take a close look at themselves and find the ‘sprinters and marathon runners’ in their business.
Mr Leighton, who attended the dinner with his daughter, said it was good to return to Yorkshire where his three children and two grandchildren live.
