Malachi Dexter reveals how the stars and spheres will influence your life and psyche this month.

Taurus: April 20 to May 20
The Bull. In a china shop. This could be you this month if you allow the impatient side of your personality to master the more cool and calculating you. And be warned, should the mayhem begin it will spiral out of control and what you say and do may cause lasting harm to a relationship of either a romantic or business nature. So remember, listen carefully as this could all begin with a misunderstanding. And count to ten before speaking or acting, making decisions that are logical and precise. It will feel forced, but it will be worth it in the end.

Gemini: May 21 to June 20
Gemini’s believe in reason and order. They want resolution and hate being left in the dark. But sometimes life refuses to make sense and there is no point in wishing that it does – let’s face it, much of human experience is composed of happy and unhappy accidents. It’s just that to admit so much of what we feel and do is random makes us feel small and inadequate. Don’t feel this way. The key to human happiness is embracing chance and accepting what it delivers as positively as we welcome a successfully executed plan.

Cancer: June 21 to July 22
Do you ever have the feeling that your life is slipping out of control? That there is simply too much detail to sort out? That you are being overwhelmed by minutiae? This can be a common feeling for you and is likely to be exacerbated in the next couple of weeks by some unprecedented emotional tension both within and without. There is a danger that a coming together of apparently insignificant energies could cause an explosive encounter with a friend or loved one. Therefore you must resolve to keep cool, but care.

Leo: July 23 to August 22

If it is true that human beings are part angel and part beast then it must be true of Leo above all. It is likely this month that you will be placed in a situation that could reveal both personalities...a situation that will test your patience to breaking point. But when this time comes you must display courage. Not the courage to act, but the courage to be kind when it seems least warranted. But this is the greatest kind of courage and hopefully it will not desert you in the weeks to come.

Virgo: August 23 to September 22
V for Virgo and V for Victory. And victory is what you should achieve this month, bringing to an end a conflict that has troubled you for some considerable time. But now that you are on the brink of winning a war you must carefully plan for the peace. As we have a nation have learned, victory can seem meaningless when cruelty persists seemingly without end. So ask youself: was I right to begin my conflict? And now that it is ending, can I be magnanimous and generous in order to build relationships that are characterised by peace and forgiveness. It is time to build something new and wonderful from rubble.

Libra: September 23 to October 22
Librans can be frustrating. Their search for balance can appear to be procrastination or fence sitting. And often people try to bully them into coming down on one side or the other. But take heart, your considered opinions are what can make your valuable in a world of hot heads and snap decisions. What is more, this world desperately needs judgments that are reasoned and fair. You may find yourself called upon to see both sides of an argument and make a ruling. But be fair – don’t allow loyalty and friendship to influence the interpretation of what you see and hear. People will be seeking fairness, nothing more, nothing less.

Scorpio: October 23 to November 21
Do you sometimes feel a little withdrawn, peeking out at the world from a safe place big enough for only you? It is not an unusual state of mind for Scorpio, but also a risky one inasmuch as withdrawal can easily become reclusiveness. It is true that the world sometimes feels best left alone and that it is easier merely to observe. But this does not prepare you for instinctive and decisive action – something you must be prepared for this month. You may feel isolated, but you also love many and know that they love you. And you do not wish to let them down at the moment of truth.

Sagittarius: November 22 to December 21
The truth hurts. And can it ever be right to tell a lie? This question may well be raised in your heart and mind in the very near future. Your fibbing may spare someone’s feelings or blushes and they will thank you for it; however, it is likely to be you that ends up getting hurt. Your heart will say you did the right thing but your mind will claim the opposite. And within this contradiction you will begin to feel under stress and an innocent victim of circumstances. However, if you are vigilant you can dismantle these circumstances as quickly as they try to arise and the question of truth and falsehood will never arise.

Capricorn: December 22 to January 19
You have longed yearn to some spiritual truth. It is not unusual for Capricorns to look further and deeper for the hidden meaning of it all. But this can also make you vulnerable – vulnerable to people who claim to have all the answers. So beware false prophets; beware those who say they can enable and empower you but, in reality, wish to make you their own, subject to their rules and their personalities. When does gentleness become subservience? You make find yourself pondering the question in either the context of work or family – or both.

Aquarius: January 20 to February 18
Your soul burns bright but sometimes not bright enough to illuminate some dark regions of your psyche. But don’t be alarmed – everyone has, at some time or another, sight of the shadows that fall across human hearts. The secret is to enter them with courage and conviction and, like a child, choose not to be afraid of the dark. Because it is here that enlightenment can be found – you just have to tread carefully and sharpen all your other senses. So make this a month when you make time to explore the shadows and transform them into bright beams of light.

Pisces: February 19 to March 20
Ah, poetic, Romantic Pisces. Always wandering lonely as a cloud and preferring the abstract to the concrete. There is nothing wrong with this because so much of what makes us human has little to do with some shared and often troubling reality. That said, if you become too often disengaged from the real world your friends and family – and particularly partners – can find your detachment irksome and infuriating. Be warned, Pisceans can be left abandoned in the spaces created by their imaginations...spaces which can be lit up by hosts of golden daffodils; and then suddenly clogged by weeds.

Aries: March 21 to April 19
Temper temper. You are often quite right to display anger to those around you who fail and let you down. But don’t you sometimes think that your expectations are stratospherically high and that you prefer not to think about your own limitations? This is typical Aries: a roaring flame that lights up the world but can just as easily destroy and injure. Highly combustible events appear to be heading your way on an inexorable timeline. Make sure that you don’t surround yourself with an emotional bush fire from which there is no escape and no going back.
