Cooking the Estbek way - chowder

Situated in Sandsend, one of North Yorkshire's most prettiest coastal villages, Estbek House is an award winning restaurant with rooms. It is owned by wine expert Dave Cross and chef Tim Lawrence.  Estbek itself is a Georgian property, build circa 1750 and formally the Alum mines office. He has a temper hotter than Hell's Kitchen and a deserved reputation as an innovative and passionate chef.  He has brought these values to two new restaurants here in the North West - the Swann Inn at Aughton near Ormskirk; and the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse and Grill at the Doubletree Hilton in Chester.  Our camera was at the latter's launch party - given the location we thought about giving Marco a grilling...but instead asked him some rather gentle questions that encouraged him to explain why he was setting up shop in our part of the world. GILL Mellor has lost count of the number of awards she and her husband, Tom, have won for their special brews. Some of their beers have earned cult status among real ale enthusiasts in Yorkshire – not bad for a couple who only seven years ago had no experience of the drinks industry. In that time their small brewery has grown to encompass seven all year round beers and seven limited edition ones.
